MICROSOFT PRE-RELEASE SOFTWARE LICENSE TERMS
MICROSOFT SQL SERVER CODE-NAMED “ARIS” COMMUNITY TECHNOLOGY PREVIEW 1 (CTP1)
These license terms are an agreement between Microsoft Corporation (or based on
where you live, one of its affiliates) and you. Please read them. They apply to
the pre-release software named above, which includes the media on which you
received it, if any. The terms also apply to any Microsoft
•	updates,
•	supplements,
•	Internet-based services, and
•	support services
for this software, unless other terms accompany those items. If so, those terms
apply.
BY USING THE SOFTWARE, YOU ACCEPT THESE TERMS. YOU MAY CHOOSE NOT TO ACCEPT
THESE TERMS, IN WHICH CASE YOU MAY NOT USE THE SOFTWARE (IF YOU HAVE NOT
ALREADY INSTALLED IT) OR WITHDRAW YOUR ACCEPTANCE ANY TIME BY UNINSTALLING THE
SOFTWARE.
AS DESCRIBED BELOW, USING SOME FEATURES ALSO OPERATES AS YOUR CONSENT TO THE
TRANSMISSION OF CERTAIN STANDARD COMPUTER INFORMATION FOR INTERNET-BASED
SERVICES.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: AUTOMATIC UPDATES TO PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF SQL SERVER. If
this software is installed on servers or devices running any supported editions
of SQL Server prior to SQL Server vNext CTP2.0 (or components of any of them)
this software will automatically update and replace certain files or features
within those editions with files from this software. This feature cannot be
switched off. Removal of these files may cause errors in the software and the
original files may not be recoverable. By installing this software on a server
or device that is running such editions you consent to these updates in all
such editions and copies of SQL Server (including components of any of them)
running on that server or device.
If you comply with these license terms, you have the rights below.
1.	INSTALLATION AND USE RIGHTS.
•	You may install and use any number of copies of the software on your
premises solely to internally evaluate it and provide feedback to Microsoft.
You may use as many copies of the software as the product key permits.
•	You may not test the software in a live operating environment unless
Microsoft permits you to do so under another agreement.
•	Other Programs.
o	Other Microsoft Programs. The software also contains other Microsoft
Programs, each of which are licensed under the terms and conditions of the
respective program’s license located at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=398122. You may only use these programs
in conjunction with the SQL Server software named above and licensed here.
2.	TERM; TIME-SENSITIVE SOFTWARE. The term is 180 days from the Microsoft
build date. The software will stop running one hundred eighty days after such
date. You will not receive any other notice. You may not be able to access data
used with the software when it stops running. Instructions on how to obtain the
software build date can be found at
https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=874666.
3.	PRE-RELEASE SOFTWARE. This software is a pre-release version. It may
not work the way a final version of the software will. We may change it for the
final, commercial version. We also may not release a commercial version.
4. CONNECTOR SOFTWARE. The software is accompanied by connector software that
can be used to migrate data to or from other database systems, to federate
queries to different processing engines, and for similar purposes. You may use
the connector software solely as part of the validly licensed copy of this
software to perform such functions to or from the software.

5.	THIRD PARTY PROGRAMS. The software may include third party applications
that Microsoft, not the third party, licenses to you under this agreement. Any
included notices for third party applications are for your information only.
6.	DATA COLLECTION. The software may collect information about you and
your use of the software and send that to Microsoft. Microsoft may use this
information to provide services and improve Microsoft’s products and services.
This includes data about the performance of the services, any problems you
experience with them, and the features you use. This also includes data about
your device and the network you use to connect to our services, including IP
address, device identifiers, regional and language settings. It includes
information about the operating systems and other software installed on your
device, including product keys. Your opt-out rights, if any, are described in
the product documentation. Some features in the software may enable collection
of data from users of your applications that access or use the software. If you
use these features to enable data collection in your applications, you must
comply with applicable law, including getting any required user consent, and
maintain a prominent privacy policy that accurately informs users about how you
use, collect, and share their data. You can learn more about Microsoft’s data
collection and use in the product documentation and the Microsoft Privacy
Statement at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=512132. You agree to
comply with all applicable provisions of the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
By using this software, you consent to Microsoft’s collection of usage and
performance data related to your use of the software.

7.	PROCESSING OF PERSONAL DATA. To the extent Microsoft is a processor or
subprocessor of personal data in connection with the software, Microsoft makes
commitments in the European Union General Data Protection Regulation Terms of
the Online Service Terms to all customers effective May 25, 2018, at
http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9840733.
8.	MICROSOFT SQL SERVER MACHINE LEARNING SERVICES. Refer to your license
terms for Microsoft SQL Server (the “software”) to identify the entity
licensing this supplement to you and for support information. You may use a
copy of this supplement with each validly licensed copy of the software. You
may not use this CTP software if you do not have a valid license or
subscription to the software.
9. SQL SERVER REPORTING SERVICES MAP REPORT ITEM. Power View and SQL Reporting
Services Map Item may use Bing Maps.  You may only use the content provided
through Bing Maps, including geocodes, within Power View or SQL Reporting
Services Map Item.  Your use of Bing Maps is also governed by the Bing Maps End
User Terms of Use available at http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9710837 and the
Bing Maps Privacy Statement available at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=248686.
9.	FEEDBACK. If you give feedback about the software to Microsoft, you
give to Microsoft, without charge, the right to use, share and commercialize
your feedback in any way and for any purpose. You also give to third parties,
without charge, any patent rights needed for their products, technologies and
services to use or interface with any specific parts of a Microsoft software or
service that includes the feedback. You will not give feedback that is subject
to a license that requires Microsoft to license its software or documentation
to third parties because we include your feedback in them. These rights survive
this agreement.
10.	BENCHMARK TESTING. You must obtain Microsoft's prior written approval
to disclose to a third party the results of any benchmark test of the software.
11.	MICROSOFT .NET FRAMEWORK SOFTWARE AND BENCHMARK TESTING. The software
includes one or more components of Microsoft .NET Framework software (“.NET
Components”) which is part of Windows. The license terms for Windows apply to
your use of the .NET Framework software.
12.	Scope of License. The software is licensed, not sold. This agreement
only gives you some rights to use the software. Microsoft reserves all other
rights. Unless applicable law gives you more rights despite this limitation,
you may use the software only as expressly permitted in this agreement. In
doing so, you must comply with any technical limitations in the software that
only allow you to use it in certain ways. You may not
•	work around any technical limitations in the software;
•	reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the software, except and
only to the extent that applicable law expressly permits, despite this
limitation;
•	remove, minimize, block or modify any logos, trademarks, copyright,
digital watermarks, or other notices of Microsoft or its suppliers that are
included in the software, including any content made available to you through
the software;
•	make more copies of the software than specified in this agreement or
allowed by applicable law, despite this limitation;
•	publish the software, including any application programming interfaces
included in the software, for others to copy;
•	You may not share or otherwise distribute documents, text or images
created using the software Data Mapping Services features;
•	rent, lease or lend the software;
•	transfer the software or this agreement to any third party; or
•	use the software for commercial software hosting services.
13.	Export Restrictions. The software is subject to United States export
laws and regulations. You must comply with all domestic and international
export laws and regulations that apply to the software. These laws include
restrictions on destinations, end users and end use. For additional
information, see http://www.microsoft.com/exporting.
14.	SUPPORT SERVICES. Because this software is “as is,” we may not provide
support services for it.
15.	Entire Agreement. This agreement, and the terms for supplements,
updates, Internet-based services and support services that you use, are the
entire agreement for the software and support services.
16.	Applicable Law.
a.	United States. If you acquired the software in the United States,
Washington state law governs the interpretation of this agreement and applies
to claims for breach of it, regardless of conflict of laws principles. The laws
of the state where you live govern all other claims, including claims under
state consumer protection laws, unfair competition laws, and in tort.
b.	Outside the United States. If you acquired the software in any other
country, the laws of that country apply.
17.	Legal Effect. This agreement describes certain legal rights. You may
have other rights under the laws of your country. You may also have rights with
respect to the party from whom you acquired the software. This agreement does
not change your rights under the laws of your country if the laws of your
country do not permit it to do so.
18.	Disclaimer of Warranty. The software is licensed “as-is.” You bear the
risk of using it. Microsoft gives no express warranties, guarantees or
conditions. You may have additional consumer rights under your local laws which
this agreement cannot change. To the extent permitted under your local laws,
Microsoft excludes the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a
particular purpose and non-infringement.
19.	Limitation on and Exclusion of Remedies and Damages. You can recover
from Microsoft and its suppliers only direct damages up to U.S. $5.00. You
cannot recover any other damages, including consequential, lost profits,
special, indirect or incidental damages.
This limitation applies to
•	anything related to the software, services, content (including code) on
third party Internet sites, or third party programs; and
•	claims for breach of contract, breach of warranty, guarantee or
condition, strict liability, negligence, or other tort to the extent permitted
by applicable law.
It also applies even if Microsoft knew or should have known about the
possibility of the damages. The above limitation or exclusion may not apply to
you because your country may not allow the exclusion or limitation of
incidental, consequential or other damages.
Please note: As this software is distributed in Quebec, Canada, these license
terms are provided below in French.

limitée uniquement à hauteur de 5,00 $ US.
